A clinical social worker for over 15 years, Annick thinks of herself as a companion, and occasional guide, in the journey to self-acceptance and emotional well-being. She provides a safe place to explore new ways of relating to uncomfortable emotions and gently let go of habits and choices that no longer serve. She understands that pain is often rooted in the past and perpetuated by outdated beliefs about ourselves and others. She offers time and space to take stock of what truly matters in your life, how that has changed over time, and how to live in keeping with your values, even when doing so is not easy.
Supportive Therapy
Annick offers individual supportive therapy for adults. She draws on several types of therapy, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction, trauma-focused therapy, and attachment-based therapy. She adapts her approach to each individual, occasionally offering art, meditation, and writing exercises in addition to traditional talk therapy. For supportive therapy sessions, Annick accepts the following insurance plans: CareFirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Johns Hopkins (EHP) and Medicare.
Brainspotting
Annick also offers Brainspotting, a short term treatment developed by David Grand (www.brainspotting.com), that deeply enhances traditional talk therapy and allows for rapid change. Using the senses, including eye gaze and sound, Brainspotting targets the parts of the brain that are connected with our emotions and memories. This gentle process allows the emotion centers of the brain to get “un-stuck.” It is a wonderfully efficient approach to resolving grief, anger, anxiety and other strong, persistent feelings. While Brainspotting sessions can support individual therapy sessions, they are a separate fee-based service, and not reimbursable by insurance.
